We have made a submission to the Scottish Parliament’s Education, Children and Young People’s Committee ahead of our appearance on Tuesday 12 June on their pre-budget scrutiny session for FY 2025/26.
In our submission, we have highlighted some key areas including:
- The university sector has faced real terms cuts for almost a decade, creating a very precarious financial position. This follows a high reduction of £28.5 million in the last academic year, building upon cuts in previous years.
- There has been a significant plummet in the last two international student recruitment cycles, undermining the model of cross- subsidy that the Scottish Government funding model relies upon.
- The number of opportunities for Scottish-domiciled undergraduates remains at a near record high.
