Universities Scotland has responded to a consultation on the review of the UK Quality Code for Higher Education.
The UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment (UKSCQA), the overseers of higher education quality assessment arrangements in the UK, are consulting on a new approach to the Quality Code. The Code, which plays a vital role in providing a common foundation for the higher education sector across the UK, has been developed collaboratively and inclusively with the sector and students since its creation.
Universities Scotland has expressed concerns over UKSCQA’s proposals, highlighting the risk of oversimplification, which would reduce the Code’s clarity and remove valuable breadth and depth of content. In particular, we are also concerned about the omissions of key areas including student engagement, enhancement, externality, employability, and the wider student experience and lifecycle.
