Universities Scotland have submitted evidence to the UK Parliament’s Scottish Affairs Committee on their inquiry into Science and Scotland.
In our evidence, we highlight that research is an area in which Scotland is genuinely “world-leading” in terms of quality and excellence. Also, how research is a significant asset for Scotland propelling innovation, economic growth, the emergence and acceleration of new industries, creating jobs and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). We also showcase how any of Scotland’s high-performing economic sectors have their origins or growth based in, or linked to, university research, illustrating how universities in Scotland are a driver for economic growth through research and innovation.
The Scottish Affairs Committee shared questions to determine what the research landscape currently looks like in Scotland and what our views are on the challenges, opportunities and how the UK Government can support research in Scotland.
