Universities Scotland has welcomed new global rankings which rates the sector in Scotland as one of the best in the world. The global rankings demonstrate Scotland’s strength in research with many universities bettering their scores from last year.
The QS World University Rankings 2022, which evaluates over 1300 universities worldwide, sees six Scottish universities improve their ranking, with another three remaining the same. Furthermore, three Scottish universities remain in the top 200 universities in the world.
Responding to the QS World University Rankings 2022, Universities Scotland Director, Alastair Sim said:
“In what has been a difficult period for the higher education sector, to see Scottish universities perform so successfully in this year’s rankings is a great achievement. It is testament to the dedication of staff and students alike. In an increasingly global and competitive university sector, Scotland continues to be one of the best places to learn, research and work.
“The past year of COVID-19 has shown the undeniable value of research. Research is something that Scotland does at a world-class level with pioneering developments that are improving lives every day. It is especially gratifying to see many of our members perform better than last year on research in the rankings.”
