The publication of the new Scottish Code of Good Higher Education Governance today (Thursday 18 July) by the Chairs of Scotland’s universities and the Steering Group has been welcomed by Universities Scotland.
Universities Scotland’s Vice Convener, Professor Petra Wend said:
“The new code will be stretching and will require many universities to put new arrangements in place within their governance structures over the new academic year. Universities are committed to continuous improvement and Principals are supportive of the means in which this code looks to strengthen the key principles of transparency and inclusion. I am confident we will see universities implement this code to the fullest over the coming academic year and beyond.
“I am pleased there was an opportunity for stakeholders to offer feedback on a draft Code published earlier this year. This built on previous engagement with over 360 students, staff, governors and senior managers at universities across Scotland.”
