Responding to the announcement made this morning (Thursday 14 April) by the Scottish Government that displaced Ukrainian students settling in Scotland will be given access to free tuition and living cost support.
Universities Scotland’s Director, Alastair Sim, said:
“Scotland’s university leaders are appalled at the continuing desperate crisis in Ukraine. We are committed to offering the best possible support to students affected by this conflict. We strongly welcome the Scottish Government’s decision about fees status and living cost support for Ukrainian students seeking refuge from the war and commencing studies in Scotland in the new academic year. We also welcome the announcement of hardship support for students affected by the conflict who are already studying here, which will complement universities’ own work to offer practical and pastoral support.”
The financial support applies to Ukrainians wishing to embark on a further or higher education course from academic year 2022-23 provided they have submitted an application to the Homes for Ukraine, Ukraine Family or the Ukraine Extension schemes.
