Jaalolu – a start up from Glasgow Caledonian University

Protecting the rights of those in the creative industry

Jaalolu is Ltd is a music publishing and rights management company built with African creatives at its heart. Jaalolu’s commitment to protecting the rights of creatives is a three-part promise: Educate artists about their rights, empower them with the skills and the knowledge to navigate the industry, and enrich them by ensuring the fair and rightful payment of royalties.

The bulk of Jaalolu’s work focuses on helping artists who have been victims of Piracy and copyright infringement to take back control of their rights.

Jaalolu was founded by Serign Sanneh, a music publisher specialising in rights management. He is currently studying his MSc in International Tourism and Events Management at Glasgow Caledonian University. Jaalolu has seen recent success with an ever-increasing list of notable clients from across The Gambia and West Africa, including some of the most notable Kora players to ever come from the region. In their own words, Jaalolu has quickly become “one of the most culturally significant music publishing companies representing creatives in The Gambia.”
